Angel Love
2016
In high school I volunteered at my church's special needs program, Angel Love. It is a program that takes care of special needs kids while their parents are in service. We would do worship, teach them the bible, do worksheets, play some games, and care for them. It was a great experience that taught me how to care for those with special needs and it made me learn more about those special needs.
Food Pantry
2016 - 2019
In high school I volunteered at my church's Food Pantry, River of Life Foundation's Food Pantry. It is a partner agency of the Second Harvest Food Bank, which is one of the largest food banks in the nation. Its mission is to end hunger. Each week on Sunday, after church, I would go there and distribute different selections of healthy foods and other products to low-income families. I would also use Excel and other programs to catalog and keep track of the people who come in. It has been a wonderful experience and I had a lot of fun working with the people there and the other volunteers.
Youth Media Team
2016 - 2019
The Youth Media Team is a team of high schoolers and middle schoolers that share the church's youth announcements. I became a part of it in my sophomore year of high school. I worked with the team on how to give the announcement, film it, and edit it. We would usually use puns to connect it to the announcement. It was a really fun and interesting experience that helped me with my communication and collaboration skills.
Video Editor
June - August 2018
During the summer before my senior year, I went and volunteered at my church's UChannelTv. It is a Chinese nonprofit broadcasting program that wants to bring the Gospel to the community. So their program broadcasts my church's sermon and livestreams for Sunday worship. They also include some cooking shows, tv shows, financial trend analysis, and daily news. I went there three times a week and edited my pastor's sermons and some cooking shows.
Podcast Host/Editor
2020 - 2021
Three of my friends and I were working on a podcast called 4U. It is about 4 Asian American college women having honest conversations about life and society from their perspectives. We talk about love languages, first impressions, Asian superstitions, and more. At the moment, we have not posted anything as we would like to record 10 episodes before releasing anything to organize our time between school and the podcast. So far it has been an interesting experience working with my friends whom all have different lifestyles and views.
